Charlottesville Tomorrow Posts Summary of Route 250 Bypass Interchange at McIntire Road Steering Committee Meeting

Charlottesville Tomorrow posted a text summary of the Route 250 Bypass Interchange at McIntire Road Steering Committee meeting on their weblog. Sean Tubbs did a terrific job of capturing the essence of the meeting. Check it out and see if you think (as I do) that the action taken by the steering committee is premature. There are alternatives that have not yet been studied that will mitigate the significant effects this interchange project will have on the many historic properties in the vicinity of the project. It is interesting that the rational noted for delaying a decision on a preferred alternative was awaiting completion of the Section 106 process. But now a decision has been made prior to completion of that process. Where is the pressure to decide prematurely coming from, the city, the consultant, other? Do read the summary and let me know what you think. The full audio of the meeting will be made available soon for those who wish to hear the nearly three hours of discussion. I will notify you when and how that audio can be accessed.
